Renting a crane from Allerdice Crane Service in Saratoga Springs was the only safe and efficient way to set the trusses. Many, many thanks to roofers John and Mike, neighbor Dan, and family Bill and Josh, for assisting Kevin in setting the 36 main house trusses. It was an interesting weather day, but no rain, and definitely no s_ _ _ . (We don't say the s-word in October.) Enjoy the slide show. Some of the trusses were separated and placed in proximity to where they will be landing permanently. Kevin will be sheathing the two main house end gables prior to the crane arriving on Friday, October 17.
The interior 2x4 walls will be constructed to hold 10-1/2" of Roxul insulation (R45). The walls were carefully measured and built by Kevin to compliment the exterior walls, also utilizing advanced framing. The interior walls were completed on 10/10.
Many, many thanks to Quality Hardware and Empire Truss Supply for ordering, manufacturing and delivering our trusses within an 8-day time frame. Trusses arrived, bright and early, on October 9.
The sheathing was completed on Thursday, October 2. Next up - - Construction of the second 2x4 wall, which will be located inside the house perimeter, creating a 10-1/2" thick wall that will be filled with insulation (R45). The trusses were ordered on October 1 and are due around October 9.
The outside 2x4 walls, with advanced framing technique, have been completed, and 7/16 Zipwall is being applied with nails and acoustical sealant to create an air barrier.
